Lead is a known neurotoxicant that has been shown to cause significant and permanent damage due to its detrimental effects on the central nervous system.
In particular, many studies have shown that children with long-term exposure to lead during their developmental years demonstrate lowered cognitive and fine motor skills and difficulties with emotional regulation.
